Megan Merryman is on the Liberty University Triathlon team that is coached by Endorphin Fitness. Megan joined the team in 2013 being brand new to the sport. She had no prior triathlon experience but she had a desire to learn and work hard to train toward her potential. She quickly improved and her drive to become faster became stronger and stronger throughout the past several years. She finished the last triathlon season in 2nd place overall in the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Triathlon Conference (which is arguably the most competitive conference in the country) after having a breakthrough season! She then when on to place in the top 25 in both the Collegiate Draft Legal National Championships and Olympic Distance Collegiate National Championships. This summer she raced in the REV3 Williamsburg Olympic distance race blowing away the competition by winning minutes ahead of second place. If she had her elite triathlon license she would have finished 3 among the professional women. This past weekend she was 2nd overall in the Patriot’s Sprint Triathlon which was the season opener for the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Triathlon Conference. The most impressive thing about Megan is not her talent or even her incredible work ethic. Her most impressive attribute is her humility. Even with her strong work ethic and her ability to continually break through barriers she continues to keep her perspective on it all and never lets any of her success impact her humility whatsoever. She is a great teammate and even stays after swim practice on Tuesday/Thursdays to work with other athletes on the team that need extra help improving their technique. She has been instrumental on helping build the culture we have wanted to create among our Liberty University athletes which is a culture of hard work paired with a fun environment. This allows each student to train toward their potential while at the same time having a support system that sets each one of them up for individual success and a lifetime of great memories with their teammates. Thank you Megan for leading the team by example, working hard to accomplish your goals and remaining humble through it all. We are so proud of you and cannot wait to see what God has in store for this season and the rest of your future.
