I am often reminded of how thankful I am to have fitness in my life. This past week, I took my family camping and while there we hiked Crabtree Falls. To experience all the beauty of these falls, you must have the fitness to climb to the top. Well, this is a challenge with seven kids from age two to fourteen, but I was thankful that all of them were active and most of them triathletes.
This experience once again reminded me what I value the most about my endurance lifestyle. At the core, endurance sports are a great way to get or stay in shape. Endurance sports provide both external competition (i.e. racing others) as well as internal competition (i.e. setting a new personal best) as well as adventure from training and racing outdoors. These are things that the gym alone simply does not satisfy.
I wonder if you are possibly struggling to find motivation and looking for a new adventure. If so, I encourage you to give endurance sports like running, cycling, swimming, or triathlon a try. Not only will you get in the best shape of your life, but I am confident the fitness gained will enable you to get more out of the other areas in your life as well.
