Our athlete of the week is Jack Micco! In our two and a half years coaching Jack, we’ve seen an awesome transformation. In his words, he started out as “not a racing type of kid”, but in our time working with him we’ve seen him change into someone excited for competition. It’s so exciting for us to see this! He says his coaching has helped him be faster than he ever thought he could be.
Jack has been riding his bike since he was 3, but it wasn’t until he started with Endorphin Fitness that he discovered he loved running too. After trying out triathlons, he decided that swimming wasn’t his strong suit and that he would stick to running and biking. Since then, Jack has raced in 5k and one mile races, with the one milers being his favorite.
The discipline and discovery of new talents is something that Jack takes with him into life and school. Jack says he hopes to make the track and cross country teams next year when he goes into middle school, and to continue working hard to improve his running times. He’s already improved his times significantly this season, with some great results in the Healthy Kids Running Series.
Jack has been an inspiration to all of us in discovering and cultivating new talents. He is a hard worker and we can’t wait to see where this will take him in all his pursuits!ew
