Our Athlete of the Week is Ava Larkin!
Ava’s fitness journey began at age 5 when she started competitively swimming. She wanted to try something new and her dad signed her up for her first triathlon at age 8. She enjoyed the rush and excitement of doing three sports at once and has been competing ever since. She is now a high performance youth elite athlete traveling to qualifying races. Endorphin Fitness has coached Ava for 4 years.
There have been good and bad race experiences for Ava. Her favorite race experience was at Youth/Junior Nationals 2017 when she crossed the finish line winning her age group. Her least favorite was ECTF where she came off the bike onto the run and had trouble breathing. Ava did not finish the race where she wanted to.
Ava’s current distances are the 375m swim, 10-mile bike, and 2.5k run. Ava’s favorite part about triathlon is the run and the bike. Ava loves that she can push herself to do more and feel accomplished for it when she crosses the finish line.
Endorphin Fitness has taught Ava to “Be More” by teaching her to set and achieve her goals, push herself, and realize what she is capable of.
When we asked Ava if she had any advice to beginners, she said, “Give it all you have!”
