The Great Unknown

The Great Unknown
April 7, 2017 Michael Harlow
It’s out there though some of us will never see it.  Those who find it, will spend great effort trying to find it again.  It is painful yet peaceful all at the same time – this perfect juxtaposition of effort and ease in symmetry with each other.  Many of us have crawled up to the edge to look over at it, but afraid of the unknown resolved to scoot back slowly.  It does not feel safe but the reward is great, like any great risk.  It requires a leap of faith – in yourself, in your body, in possibility.  It is worth it.
Many of us will spend our athletic lives just under our potential. Refusing to step out on the limb, we resolve to play it safe keeping within our comfort zone.  Our results therefore play it safe as well, steadily improving but to no great lengths.  We wonder whether there is something more but aren’t willing to go find out.  We must go find out!
Today, decide to be more.  Instead of approaching your workout safe, approach it with reckless abandonment refusing to give anything less than your best.  Resolve to find that great unknown – that level of fitness that only hard work and determination can uncover.  Commit to making the leap!  If you make this commitment day after day on the workouts and races, you will find another level.  It will not be easy, but it will be worth it.  And, once you taste it, you will be even more determined to taste it again.
Be More. Live Red.
