What a weekend!!! The Liberty University Online Academy East Coast Triathlon Festival was the headliner of the weekend with Endorphin Fitness taking the Mid-Atlantic Youth Club Championship as well as podiums across the board. We also have a few other races to report on as well.

 

In the Super Sprint, Florence Lamirand pulled off the overall win on the women’s side and Coach Parker Spencer took 2nd overall followed by Jim Fisher in 3rd and Ryan Haug in 5th on the men’s side. Isabella Larking, Kathy Scourby, Alex Cancado, Maggie Geoghagen, Steve Smith, Bill Deaton, and John McMurry all won their age groups. Matt Myers, Mary Jane Willis, and Dawn Carter took 2nd in theirs. Monica Woodward, Wyatt Haas, and Kenneth Steingold placed third in their age group. We also had strong races from Paul Croston, Eric Glymph, and Jessica Voss.

 

In the Kid’s 11-12 age group, Samantha Kayne took 3rd. Maddie Fisher 5th, Lucy Nunziata 10th, and Caroline Osenga 11th on the girl’s side while on the boy’s side, Presley Evans took 2nd, Anderson Church 3rd, Tate Frost 4th, Joshua Gray 5th, Aiden Hall 8th, Patrick Harlow 10th, Roman Steiss 14th, Luke Craven 16th, Caleb Harlow 18th, Matthew Estes 19th, Matthew Ciaverelli 20th, and Ben Foster 21st.

 

In the Kid’s 13-15 age group, Anna Mihalovich took 1st and Sarah Mihalovich 3rd.

In the Kid’s 7-8 age group, Josie Nunziata took 1st on the girl’s side and Whitfield Evans took 1st followed by Zach Fisher in 2nd on the boy’s side.

 

In the Kid’s 9-10 age group, on the girl’s side, Eve Frost took 1st, Hazel Wells 2nd, Campbell Rowe 4th, and Margeaux Ciaverelli 9th. On the boy’s side, Ian Henderson took 1st, Gabe Nunziata 2nd, Jude Gillespie 3rd, Chandler Evans 5th, Cannen Harlow 7th, Ian Hasheider 10th, and Emmett Gaborik 11th.

 

In the Kid’s duathlon, Hadley Harlow took 1st, Ellie Harlow 2nd, Austin Harlow 3rd, Hattie Wells 7th, and Hazel Gillespie 9th on the girl’s side. On the boy’s side, Joshua Glover took 1st followed by Collin Hasheider in 2nd.

 

EF had a super impressive showing in the youth and junior elite races qualifying 8 for nationals.

In the Junior Elite Female race, Lexi Christie took 16th, Kaitlyn Yasnowsky 26th, Grace Sheehy 35th, Carson Everman 39th, Maya Sweeney 40th, Anna Walter 49th, Marisa Ruotolo 52nd, Madisen Koler 54th, Keagan Carroll 56th, and Chloe Ramirez 56th.

 

In the Junior Elite Male race, Justin Free took 37th, Alex Tan 42nd, Matthew Piper 45th, Stephen Tan 61st, and Blaze Prax 62nd.

 

In the Youth Elite Female race, Parker Albright took the win followed by Abby Church in 5th, Zoe Van Winckel 6th, Hannah Ye 7th, Paige Lind 11th, Hope Frost 12th, Megan Buchannan 13th, Alexandra Poole 15th, Ava Larkin 38th, Jennifer Zheng 41st, Jordan Pham 50th, Sarah Menchavez 62nd, Sarah Ruotolo 68th, Olivia Christie 70th, and Eloise de Landevoisin Campbell had to pull out after the swim due to injury but had an amazing swim!

 

In the Youth Elite Male race, Nick Pilgrim took 9th, Kieran Haug 13th, Be Poling 14th, Caleb Ingham 32nd, Otto Gerstl 38th, Coleson Lindsay 39th, Luke Rosser 41st, Jacob Crouch 43rd, and Matt Coleman 61st.

 

In other race news, Caroline Osenga ran a 6:37 1600 M to set a new PR at her track meet. Colby Burcham and Hannah Lupica both ran PR’s in the 2mile at the Dogwood Classic this weekend, both qualifying for states. Emily Whitty had a strong 800m run at Dogwood as well setting a PR. Also, Kylie Bonser and Lucy Poh both won the overall county championship in their respective events!

 

At the Monticello Man International, Donna Norris to take 1st in her age group and Erika Jurkowski had a huge PR and finished a sub 2 hour half marathon at the Uncorked Half Marathon.

 

On Tuesday in the Woodberry Forest VAHS MTB Series race, Coleson Lindsey and Presley Evans extended their lead in the series by taking the win again in the middle school and elementary school races respectively. Jude Gillespie, Patrick Harlow, Cannen Harlow, and Ben Foster also had strong days with Jude making the podium with a 5th place finish.

 

In the final race of the Healthy Kids Run Series, we had fewer athletes race due to the East Coast Triathlon Festival being at the same time which dropped several EF down in the rankings but a few pulled off the double to seal their series crowns. Riggs Ukrop secured his overall win with a 3rd place finish, Brown Ukrop took 6th, Patrick finished 3rd, Armistead Butler 11th, Maddie Fisher 3rd (series winner), and Luke Munroe 1st (series winner). Congrats to all!
