Race Recap: September 8th – September 9th
September 10, 2018 Nick Seitz

We had a great weekend of racing with many of our athletes participating in one of our main team races, the Patriot’s Tri in Williamsburg. However, we also had tons of other results from races including IM Lake Placid, the Speak Up 5k, Odyssey Trail Running Rampage, and several high school cross country and mountain bike races, as well as many more. Congrats to all our athletes who raced! Let’s get started.

At the Patriot’s Half, Jax Bethel competed in the half and snagged first place in Military Females (and would have won her age group, as well!). Kris Scott completed his first half-full distance with an amazing bike split and persistence on a brutally hot run course. Cort Kirkley won his age group.

At the Patriot’s Olympic, Laura Vance, Lee White, David Knicely, Meredith Newcomb, Sarah Pathoff, Scott Vanwagner, Roger Peterson, and Mary Cramer all competed in the Olympic distance triathlon at Patriot’s and had strong races. Monica Woodward finished 4th in her AG. Mike Thompson had a solid debut in the Olympic distance, placing 6th in his AG. Matt Cramer ended up taking first in his age group and 10th place overall for the day!

At the Patriot’s Sprint, Danielle Sparkman competed in the Sprint and took 3rd place in the Athena Division. Donna Morris took 1st in the masters’ division.  Chloe Ramirez took 1st in her AG! Emily Kontos completed the Sprint and took over 7 minutes off of her time from last year, with improvements in all three legs of the race! Matt Myers executed a course PR, along with Kathy Scourby taking 2nd AG! James Crabb crushed his competition, getting first in his age group. James Hewitt, one of our newer members, got 5th place in his age group. Aimee West got third in her age group! Alex Tan took first in his age group as well. Scott Dixon had a strong race.

Also at Patriot’s, coach Erin took 1st overall in the Aquabike division.

Endorphin Fitness had several strong finishes at the NICA Mountain Bike Series Opener at Miller School.  Maddie Fisher won the Middle School Girls B race.  Presley Evans took 15th and Jude Gillespie 47th in the Middle School Boys A race.  In the High School JV Boys race, Caleb McCaskill took 5th, Jake Dysart 7th, Coleson Lindsey 10th, and Rex Nguyen had a mechanical though was having a very strong race.

At the White Lake Olympic, Charlene Wilhelm was second in her age group.

Cooper Albright had a strong race at the Knight’s Crossing 5k with a PR for that race.

At local XC races including the Pole Green Invitational, Jake Schindel, Colby Burcham, and Connor Zebrowski all had great showings with Colby and Jake leading the way for the team win!  Connor Doyle ran a strong race.  Joshua Gray was the second 8th grade finisher in the entire JV race- well done Josh!  Cashion set a PR for the distance!
Megan Buchanan and Coach Marc both raced in the final race of the Cool Summer Mornings Sprint Triathlon Series in Clermont, Florida.  This was Megan’s last race of the season and Coach Marc’s first race in 11 years.  They finished in a tie! 1:04:56
At the Hammerhead Aquabike training day, Susan Alexander had a fantastic swim, as well as a very strong 56 mile bike in tough conditions- well done Susan!
Katie Elliott took the overall female title (and 3rd for both male and female) at the Desert’s Edge Triathlon in Colorado.

Allan Ng put together a near perfect race despite cold temperatures at Lake Placid 70.3 with a super strong finish.

At the Speak Up 5k, Sarah Look ran a very strong race PR! Bowen Surro also ran and had a great run!

At the Odyssey Trail Running Rampage, Alex Murdock completed the half marathon distance with over 2700 vertical feet!  Nina Marino did her first full marathon distance on this course completing a total of 5400 ft of climb! Congrats!

Congrats to all our athletes!
