We have a ton of exciting races to report on this week with many athletes racing. Major races include the Brasilla CAMTRI American Championships, the Robius Landing Triathlon (turned duathlon due to river conditions), the Monroe Youth and Junior Elite cup, the Kids Tri Too triathlon, Splash and Dash Burkwood, and many other awesome races! Let’s get started.
Parker Albright had a strong (yet unfortunate) race at the Brasilla CAMTRI Tri American Champs with a strong swim and run despite a mechanical on the bike. Parker will race again alongside teammate Abby Church at the Youth Olympic Games Trials in Salinas, Ecuador this weekend.
At The Robious Landing Triathlon , Coach Harlow took 2nd overall. EF swept the 10-14 women’s podium with Caroline Osenga taking 1st, Ella Forlin 2nd, and Anneliese Rogerson 3rd. In the 15-19 age group, Caleb McCaskill took 1st followed by Connor Doyle in 2nd. Keagan Carroll took 5th in her age group, and Coach Anne took 2nd in hers. Susan Alexander dominated her age group, taking first! Laura Vance and Caitlin Weston both took 2nd in their age groups. Matt Myers finished 7th in his AG. Kenneth Steingold finished 4th in his AG. David Knicely, Meredith Newcomb, Mary Jane Willis, and Juan Alvarado all had strong races as well!
John Clarke competed in the cycling time trial at Robious Landing this weekend. Although holding third place with a strong showing on the bike, he had a mechanical that prevented him from finishing the race. Steve Smith placed 3rd in the TT and had a huge PR!
Andy Valerie completed the Hilly Billy Roubaix, a 74 mile mountain bike race through the mountains of West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Although it’s a brutal challenge under ideal conditions, there was an added element this year with heavy rain before and even during the race. Huge congrats to Andy for finishing this!
Mark Dupuis completed the Old Port Half Marathon in a time of 1:57.
Pam Kemper and Lenora Mariner participated in the Ragnar Bike/Run relay race, which involved biking and running through all hours of the night! Nancy Faux and Roger Peterson also had strong results for their team!
At the Burkwood Splash and Dash, Emily Merchant finished a strong 2nd in her AG, just 7 seconds out of first!
At the Monroe Youth/Junior Elite Cup, Hope Frost took 2nd overall in the youth elite female race. In the Junior Elite Female race, EF had a super strong finish with Abby Church taking 3rd, Zoe Van Winckel 4th, Hannah Ye 5th, Chloe Ramirez 9th, Alexandra Poole 10th, Megan Buchanan 17th, and Jennifer Zheng 21st. Tate Frost took 28th in the youth elite male race.
Nick Pilgrim took the overall win at the Bermuda 1 Mile Open Water Swim.
Luke Craven won his age group at the Rho Smile Train Tri.
At the Manassas Mini Tri, Samantha Kayne took 1st overall male and female at 13 years old!!
At Kids Tri Too, EF swept the girl’s overall podium with Andrea Rogerson, Annika Rogerson, and Josie Nunziata taking 1-2-3 respectively. On the boy’s side, Gabe Nunziata took the overall win. Lucy Nunziata took 1st, Lily Stimson 1st, Ian Hasheider took 4th, Mia Pipkin, and Keagan Kellar 5th in their age groups.
