Great weekend of racing for EF athletes! We had a wide variety of races, including the Monument Avenue 10k in Richmond, Duathlon Nationals in North Carolina, as well as several other cycling and running races! Let’s get started.
At the Duathlon National Championships, 15 year old Hope Frost took 4th overall on Saturday in the draft-legal event Saturday and posted the fastest combined run time on Sunday to take 3rd overall. Carson Everman took 2nd in her age group at the draft-legal event and Sade Smith took 5th in her age group on Saturday and 4th age group on Sunday. Kathy Scourby finished 7th in her AG. All four EF athletes qualified for worlds.
Carson Everman also raced the University of Tennessee club race the day after duathlon nationals with strong results taking 1st age group and 5th overall on Sunday.
In his school’s track meet, Cooper Albright ran a 4:32 mile followed closely by a 1:59 800 this week which is a tough combo to do so close together.
Congrats to Coach Ryan who finished 10th overall at the Monument Avenue 10K with a 32:15!! Also at the Monument Ave 10k, we had Matthew Myers with a huge PR! Nina Marino posted an extremely strong race, along with Buck Robbins! Sarah Look had a great result coming off of a 5k PR last week. Rachel Wood ran well pacing her daughter to the finish! Emily Kontos completed the race and ran her way to a new 10k PR of over 2 minutes! Mark Dupuis, Rohana Meade, Ryan Clennan, James Hewitt (PR!), Mickie Fleming (PR!), Brian Keiper, Lenora Mariner, Emily Sherald, Katie Skiff and Mary Jane Willis also completed the 10k!
Coach Kevin Mallon as well as Cort Kirkley both had awesome days racing in the Boston marathon!
At the BAA 5k, Monica Woodward posted a huge PR!
At the Single Track Maniac 50k, Alex Murdock had a very solid race!
Sam Kayne won Women’s Cat 4 Carl Dolan Road Race (Columbia, MD) finishing with a strong hill climb and an exciting sprint to the finish line.
Nick Pilgrim competed in a 3-stage bike race in Bermuda in the Adult B category. He was in the Adult B division. After putting up some super impressive numbers on Saturday, he rode off the front on Sunday to take the win by over 30 seconds and claiming the GC title.
At 70.3 Greece, Paul Croston executed a great race!
Eloise Campbell ran a very strong 3200 this weekend!
Colby Burcham and Jake Schindel both posted strong results in their first races of the season at James River!
EF Youth had another great week at the Spring Healthy Kids Running Series. In the 50 yd race, Braxton Harlow took 5th. In the 75 yd race, Colby Harlow placed 10th. In the K-1st boys race, Robert Hotchfelder placed 19th, Paxton Harlow 23rd, and Oliver Harlow 24th. In the K-1st girls race, Tessa Milici placed 12th. In the 2nd-3rd grade race, Cooper Milici 7th in the boy’s race while Ellie Harlow won the girl’s race setting a new PR. In the 4th-5th grade girl’s mile race, Hadley Harlow placed 1st tying her PR, Austin Harlow 2nd with a new PR, and Ariana Hotchfelder 7th. In the middle school race, Maddie McComb took the win with a new PR!
Strong racing for EF athletes at the 2nd stop on the VAHS Mountain Bike Series at Woodberry Forest. In the Varsity division, Jake Dysart took 12th and Rex Nguyen 31st. In the middle school division, Maddie Fisher took 6th on the girl’s side and Presley Evans and Jude Gillespie took 9th and 15th on the boy’s side.
