The Endorphin Fitness Center is a second home to those pursuing fitness through any means. Within its doors, you will find state-of-the-art technology for endurance coaching as well as traditional fitness equipment to meet your fitness and competitive goals.

Harlow

Michael Harlow - Head Coach

Michael Harlow has been involved in endurance athletics since the age of eight and started racing triathlons at the age of ten. Michael has consistently ranked in the top 6% in the Nation among triathletes and was a member of Team USA at The Short Course Triathlon World Championships in 2005. Michael is USA Triathlon, USA Cycling, and USA Track and Field.

Dodson

Craig Dodson - Cycle

Craig Dodson started racing BMX at age 14- becoming a state champion in his second season. Craig is currently a pro-amateur category one cyclist who boasts over 60 top elite finishes since 2002. Craig has his B.S. in exercise physiology and is working towards a masters. He has conducted original research at the graduate level on biomechanics as they relate to endurance athletics.

Sarah Caravella

Sarah Caravella - Personal Training & Cycle

Sarah has been a competitive athlete since the early age of 12. She been nationally ranked both as a runner and a cyclist. She is currently riding professionally for Team Tibco. Sarah also, for the past several years has been involved with the fitness industry. She holds both an A.C.E and Cooper strength certification, as well as a coaching certification from USATF. Through her experience she has helped numerous elite and novice athletes develop strength workouts to address their individual needs and achieve success in their sport.

Harrison

Blain Harrison - Strength

Blain Harrison comes to Endorphin Fitness with over 5 years of experience as a personal trainer and strength coach.  He has a master's degree in Exercise Physiology from UVA and is currently enrolled in a graduate program in athletic training at VCU.  He hold numerous fitness and nutrition certifications from such national certifying agencies as the ACSM, NSCA, NASM, USA Triathlon, USA Weightlifting, American College of Nutrition (ACN), and Power Pilates.  He is an avid runner and triathlete having completed many races of varying distances.  His goal for Endorphin Fitness members is to improve their performance by reducing their risk of overuse injuries, improving their muscular strength and power, and making them more efficient at their chosen activities.

Averette

Brenda Averette - Run

Brenda Averette has been involved in running for over 10 years. She is currently the head coach of James River High School's Cross Country program. Brenda has completed several marathons and has raced The Boston Marathon four times. She brings to Endorphin Fitness a depth of knowledge, an amazing personality, and a passion for the sport. Brenda is a USA Track and Field Certified Coach.

Lauder

Jon Lauder - Run

Jon Lauder began running in high school where he ran Indoor Track for the Northern Virginia running jugger-naut - Oakton H.S. Subsequently, he joined the UR cross-country team where he was the team's MVP his junior year and team captain for both cross-country and track his senior year. Since graduating, he has worked as a volunteer assistant for the UR track team, as a pri-vate coach, and is now entering into his second season as the track coach at Brookland Middle School. Jon is a USA Track and Field Certified Coach.

Smith

Whitney Smith - Swim

Whitney Smith is a USA Swimming Certified Coach and has been teaching swimming lessons for 10 years. She was an NCAA All-American at the University of North Carolina and currently holds the Virginia state record for the 800m freestyle. In 2000 she qualified for the Olympic Trials in the 800m freestyle, and again in 2004, where she qualified for the 800 free and the 400 IM. She also represented the US in the World Cup in Shanghai, China.

Royce

Danny Royce - Swim

Danny Royce has been the coach of the Woodlake Hurricanes Summer League Team since 2001 and the Trinity Episcopal High School team since 2004. Danny grew up in the Richmond area, swimming for Poseidon Swim Club where he was the team captain his senior year of high school. He went on to swim for Cornell University where he was the 3-time MVP and 2-time captain of the team. Danny is currently a third year law student at the University of Richmond. He is a USA Swimming Certified Coach.

Downey

Betsy Downey - Swim

Betsy Downey began swimming when she was 5 years old. She attended the University of Virginia on a swimming scholarship and graduated in 2004. She loves working with children and started teaching swim lessons when she was 15. After college, Betsy was the head swim coach at a local high school and worked with the master's team at ACAC in Charlottesville. She loves coaching all ages and has worked with people as young as 6 months to 94 years. Currently Betsy is in graduate school at MCV and coaches for Endorphin Fitness.

Fraser

Sally Fraser - Multisport

Sally Fraser has been an avid runner and cyclist for over 15 years and a competitive triathlete for the last five. Combining her love of teaching and her passion for endurance sports, she became a USAT certified coach. She enjoys helping people discover the "triathlete within." Being the mother of three young triathletes, she finds working with the youth teams especially fulfilling.

Larocque

Dan LaRocque - Multisport

Dan LaRocque is a certified USA Triathlon Coach and has been actively involved in swimming, biking and running most of his life. For the past few years he has concentrated on mountain biking and competing in the Xterra off-road triathlon series. He has qualified and competed at the Nationals and Worlds for the past two seasons. Dan enjoys teaching others how to be "one with the trails" on their bike.

Mannell

Ashley Mannell - Nutrition

Ashley Mannell is a registered dietitian and nutrition consultant. Ashley received her master's degree in dietetics from James Madison University in 2004, and completed her dietetic internship at VCU Medical Center in 2005. As an RD, Ashley works with athletes to help them meet their fitness goals and enhance their sports performance by teaching proper nutrition and healthy eating habits. Ashley is the nutrition coach at ACAC Fitness and Wellness center, and also works in a private practice at Specialty Nutrition and Health.

Sam Glass

Sam Glass - Personal Training

Sam has over 12 years of experience in the health and fitness industry, a master's degree in exercise, fitness, and health promotion and holds a training certificate from the American College of Sports Medicine. He has served as a fitness specialist at the Army Materiel Command Headquarters in Alexandria, VA and worked as a wellness specialist at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. In addition to his health promotion background, Sam has also gained valuable physical therapy experience while working in northern Virginia. Sam looks forward to promoting health and fitness in the Richmond area.

Stadler

Dr. Teresa Stadler

Dr. Teresa Stadler graduated from Albany Medical College in 1995 and completed a Fellowship with Charlton Methodist Hospital Primary Care Sports Medicine in 2001. She has been the Team Physician for organizations such as the Richmond Triathlon Club, Richmond Roadrunners, and Team in Training. She was also the director of Rehab Services and Sports Medicine at Henrico Doctors Hospital and a staff physician at the West End Orthopaedic Clinic.

Spagnolo

Dr. Michael Spagnolo

Dr. Michael Spagnolo graduated from Life Chiropractic College in 1994 with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. He is also a 1999 graduate of the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture. He has extensive continuing education in nutritional healing, x-ray studies, and dietary research. He is a member of the Virginia Chiropractic Association, the International Chiropractic Association, and a Fellowship in the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture
